ABOUT THE ARTIST

Megan Combs is a graduate of Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree with a double concentration in Photography and Fiber Art/Fabric Design. She also had a minor in Theatre Arts for costume design and did a considerable amount of work with makeup design as well.

Megan is extremely passionate about what she does. "As soon as an idea gets into my head I have to do whatever it takes to get it out and into the physical form so that it is available to others and possibly more importantly, so that I can be at rest with the idea...as if that is ever possible."

Much of Megan's inspiration comes from her dreams. She also addresses things like music, films, novels, textures found in nature, social issues, and her personal life. "I love the idea of combining mundane topics with the unusual- taking the familiar and mixing it with the strange. The combination of hard and soft is also a recurring theme in my work. My motto has always been 'a delicate strength'."

Some people who influence the artist include Cindy Sherman, Thorsten Brinkmann, Ann Hamilton and Sylvia Plath.

Megan's work has been shown in the juried Bloomsburg University Student Art Show in 2010, 2011 and 2012 as well as the 2012 juried OH+5 Ohio Border Biennial.

Megan currently lives in Denver, Colorado.
